A quick quick quick cooking system that boils water very fast. It packs down into itself with no protruding parts which means it will slip in/out of your bag with ease. The neoprene insulation will keep your brew warm and the lid provides an easy drinking system.

There are however some failings. The protective cover that fits over the bottom can be quite stiff to pull off, which is a negative with cold hands. The electro starter works well initially, but piles in after not too much use. After a fair bit of usage, the metal welds which join the bottom piece to the vessel, broke and pulled a small hole in the metal drinking container.

It may not be the most robust cooker, but it is very simple to use and can make fresh brews very quickly. Great for short trip activity where you do not need loads of fuel.

Tip: Keep the gas canister (rustable metal) and the heating element in plastic bags when you store them in the drinking vessel. The residual water from use will rust the gas canister very quickly and can leave marks in your cup.

I have used the jet boil system on many an excursion and to date have no qualms. This little bundle of joy has served me well in harsh weather at altitude. Quick enough for a tea when time is an issue and big enough to fold and stuff a boil in the bag in. Perfomance suffers slightly with high winds as the heat exchange is understandable exposed. I would highly recommend the additional base support as the unit is tall and narrow resulting in a poor centre of gravity. All in all I highly commendable for the price!
N.B. I wouldn't bother about the updated model which changes colour when hot enough....... I think most can ascertain when water is boiling.
